TUCSON (KVOA) - Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus' nomination to lead U.S. Customs and Border Protection was sent to a vote on Thursday.

According to a tweet shared by the Senate Press Gallery, Sen. Chuck Schumer "filed cloture" on Magnus' nomination to be Commissioner of CBP.

Back in November, the 15 to 13 vote moved the nomination to the Senate floor with the majority of Democrats voting in favor, along with one Republican.

In October, the nomination was majorly opposed by the Arizona Sheriff's Association and the National Sheriff's Association
