Sabino's Hackworth quickly rises as one of best dual-threat QBs in Arizona

TUCSON (KVOA) -- The sixth Friday Football Fever Computer Revival Player of the Week award for 2021 goes to Sabino quarterback Cameron Hackworth.

The sophomore is in his first season as the Sabercats signal-caller and he produced four touchdowns last Friday night in a 27-16 win over Pusch Ridge Christian.

Hackworth, a dual-threat quarterback, ran for two scores and threw for two more.

He has 22 touchdowns thru seven games of his first varsity season. The 16-year-old has passed for 15 touchdowns while throwing for 1,473 and run for seven scores compiling a team-leading 521 yards on the ground.

His 1,473 passing yards are 8th in the state and he’s 5th in Arizona in total yards by a quarterback.

Sabino (5-2, 1-1) is ranked 11th at the moment in Conference 3A with three games left to play in the regular season.

The Sabercats lost to 8th ranked Thatcher and thus are in 3rd place in the tough 3A South.

They will play an out of Section game this Friday against Tanqu Verde (4-3), before finishing up the season with games against Safford and Sahuarita.
