TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Adia Barnes hopes to rally Arizona to help combat arthritis during the annual Bear Down Celebration, which will be put on by the University of Arizona’s Arthritis Center and UArizona Department of Intercollegiate Athletics this Thursday.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. on a free, public livestream, and will highlight the annual fundraiser for the UA Arthritis Center.

In addition to Barnes, Arizona Women’s basketball head coach and Dave Heeke, the vice president of Arizona Athletics serving as featured speakers, the event will provide information on the successes from the previous athletic season, and share what’s to come for the 2021-2022 season.

Almost $2 million has been raised for arthritis research and education since the collaboration between the programs began in 1983.

Individuals looking to attend the livestream must register prior to the event at eventbrite.com.
