ADHS: Avoid the ER unless it is a real emergency

Using the ER for real emergencies
TUCSON (KVOA)- Arizona is breaking records for new COVID-19 cases as the Omicron variant takes over the state and hospitals are seeing more people overwhelming emergency rooms.

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, people are going to the emergency department with mild or no symptoms and are also looking for coronavirus testing in the ER.

ADHS is urging people not to go to an emergency room for COVID-19 testing as this is making it difficult for staff to care for patients dealing with medical emergencies.

If you are not dealing with an emergency, health officials are asking you to go to your primary care doctor, a local community health clinic, urgent care or use telehealth services.
