TUCSON - A new feature film, a western is being shot at Old Tucson Studios.

Hundreds of local actors turned out this weekend to audition.

They gathered at high noon, dressed in 1890's costume complete with lace, leather, old west hats and spurs.

There were saloon girls, native Americans and gun slingers all practicing their lines.

Lynne McGowan and her son traveled from Tombstone. Not once breaking character she says, "I came all the way out here by stagecoach."

Local actor David Hight says, "This is the eleventh movie I've done, if I get the part."

"I work at the OK Corral, that's where I got my start and I want to be in film," says 19-year old Daniel McGowan.

Tucsonan Gary Wellborn says, "I'm a self employed handyman, and home renovator. I've been laid off the past couple years, and I'm looking for a new outlet."

The film titled Hot Bath-Stiff Drink will be directed by Matthew Gratzner.

"It's a classic revenge story, reminiscent of old westerns," says Gratzner, whose visual effects have been featured in major blockbusters.

Producer Jeffery Patterson elaborates, "huge films from Spider Man three, Shutter Island, Inception, Hugo, he's incredible."

Producers say despite Arizona not offering rebates or tax incentives to film makers, Southern Arizona's backdrop and heritage beat out other locations.

"I hope this script comes to life. I don't hope, I know it will," says co-producer William Shockley. "In fact, today we've met three to four hundred local talent to round out the looks of the towns."

As for the lead actors, negotiations are underway and should be revealed by Christmas.

Filming is expected to wrap by mid-February.
