TUCSON - A campaign to save your skin from the sun is underway in Tucson.

The program, called "Protect Your Skin," was launched by the University of Arizona's Cancenr Center.
The goal is to promote sunscreen use when doing outdoor activity. On Monday, representatives from the Cancer Center were at five locations around town, giving out sunscreen and sun safety information.

Last year, the UA's Skin Cancer Institute was awarded a grant to install sunscreen dispensers in the bathrooms of many favorite outdoor attractions in Tucson, including: Reid Park Zoo, Pima Air and Space Museum, Tohono Chul Park, Tucson Botanical Gardens, and Biosphere 2.

The next Protect Your Skin event is a free cancer screening being held this Thursday. Medical providers will provide brief, free, skin screenings for UA students,faculty, and staff, organizers state. There are no appointments: first come, first served.

Health educators from the University of Arizona Cancer Center Skin Cancer Institute will be available for consultation and referrals.

If you want to attend, head to the Campus Health Service/Highland Commons Building ground floor, 1224 E. Lowell St. between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday.
