TUCSON -- School closures once again a topic of discussion in TUSD.
Right now, the school board is looking ahead to the 2013-2014 school year.
A series of open houses will be held this week.
The district wants feedback from parents and the community.
This week's open houses will be Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
State budget cuts and loss of student enrollment means the district's financial losses, are greater than the revenue coming in.
Nine elementary schools were closed in 2010 and classrooms merged.
That option is again being considered, everything from consolidating elementary and high schools, to cutting programs and reducing administrative costs.
Folks who attend the open houses will get to view multiple scenarios being considered, ask questions and give their feedback.
TUSD spokesperson Cara Rene stresses the importance of community involvement.
"The public will come and hopefully we really want people to leave their feedback. This information will go to the governing board in a draft plan and then eventually go back out to the public for more town halls," says Rene.
"Again this is just a matter of the governing board wants to hear from the public and what they feel are the best scenarios for the district. Absolutely no decisions have been made. We're looking at formulas right now," she adds.
Here's a look at the open house schedule:
• Wednesday, Oct. 3, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.: Pueblo Magnet High School Cafeteria, 3500 S. 12th Ave.
