Posted 7:44 AM 2/21/2012 : Spectacular 70's: Above average warmth through the weekend
TUCSON - February's warmth is here to stay for a while.
High pressure off the California coast is the reason for this week's stretch of weather, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Starting today, high temps will eclipse the 70 degree mark. Expect low 70's across the Tucson metro later this afternoon, with mostly sunny skies.
A gradual rise in temps is on tap heading into the weekend, peaking in the upper 70's Saturday. Areas west of Tucson may make a run at the 80's for the first part of the weekend. Overall, daytime highs should run as high as 7 degrees above average by week's end.
No big changes are in store heading into next week, with high temps retreating into the low 70's.
