TUCSON- For most women, chopping of their locks is a tough decision, but Tucsonan Linda Tavernese doesn't have any doubts about a new hairdo.
She's donating her hair to a non-profit organization called Children With Hairloss.
"It grows back so it's all good," Tavernese says.
Every year the organization donates hair to more than 300 children who have lost their hair because of medical reasons.
It's a matter close to Tavernese's heart. Her own daughter died 12 years ago at age six, after battling a rare type of cancer. "She was always self-conscious about not having her hair and losing her hair, but she rocked a hat like it was nobody's business," Tavernese says.
This weekend if your mane measure at least eight inches, you can also donate your hair to Children with Hairloss. Stylists from the Bella Vita Salon will be cutting hair for free at the Foothills Mall from 10am to 8pm.
The event is in honor of the Disney on Ice production of "Dare to Dream", which features Disney's newest princess, the long golden-haired Rapunzel.
The first 25 donors will receive a Rapunzel necklace, plus two tickets to see Disney on Ice at the Tucson Convention Center on Thursday, October 11.
