TUCSON - Some people are getting ready for cold weather early this winter.

Eric Clark at Civano Nursery covered some of their plants with frost cloth. The small flowers on plants like geraniums are sensitive.

Clark also wanted people to know that they should not fertilize this time of year.

"That's like eating dinner at 11 o'clock at night," he said. "It's not good for them. They're not going to use it really, and it could even damage them if they start to grow again."

Phillip Downard was shopping for frost cloth. His citrus trees froze last year.

"You may as well do it early and have it done," He said, "and you don't have to go through the rush later on or if they run out."

Tucson firefighters want people to keep space heaters 3 feet away from anything that can catch fire.

"The catch term with real estate is, ‘location, location, location.' You could almost use the same with space heaters," Capt. Barrett Baker said. "They're hot. They put out a lot of heat, and we don't want anything that's going to catch fire around them."
