Posted 3:30 PM 5/1/2012 : RAW VIDEO: Police may discontinue daily news briefings on Celis
TUCSON - Tucson Police say they are considering eliminating their daily press conference regarding the disappearance of six-year-old Isabel Celis.
Lt. Fabian Pacheco said the department is fully aware of the resources used by the department and the media when holding the afternoon meetings and is concerned resources may be stretched especially when no new details are released in the case. Pacheco stressed detectives are still working the case but cannot reveal many details to the public.
At Tuesday's press conference Pacheco told reporters more than 400 tips had come into the department regarding Isabel's case. He also said detectives were still searching through surveillance video taken from a nearby church. The video released last week was from a date not related to the case, "some people are saying well, 'This is a huge setback.' I think to characterize it as a setback is very inaccurate because we said all along the value of that video was simply to identify those people that we thought were witnesses, potential witnesses. We wanted to know what they saw," he explained.
Lt. Pacheco said detectives were working with Isabel's coach to locate any home video shot the last night she was publicly seen. As of Tuesday no video had been submitted to detectives.
