TUCSON- The Tucson Fire Department is hosting its first recruit class since 2009.
Budget constraints have prevented hiring in the past few years, but this year they have brought on 33 recruits.
"The first week is, for all intents and purposes, an attitude adjustment," said Cpt. Eric Perry.
Their first major challenge is called the mud bog. Recruits carried a 140-pound hose with the water on at full blast, through a muddy trench.
