TUCSON - Tucson Fire Investigators are looking into what caused a woodworking shop in the Barrio Warehouse District to catch fire early this morning.

Several calls were made to 911 around 5 a.m. reporting a huge warehouse fire near Broadway and Park Ave. Tucson Fire Department officials told News 4 Tucson that 18 units and 45 firefighters were needed to contain the 2-Alarm fire.

"Any time you go to a second alarm fire, it's a resource heavy operation," said Barrett Baker, spokesman for TFD.

The scene was sealed off, closing the southern portion of Parker Avenue.

Nearby shop owners are concerned the scene might scare customers away. Tasha Bundy, who owns a nearby lifestyles shop says her store will continue to keep their doors open.

"We're had traffic already even being cordoned off, so I mean I'm sure it could affect things but we just want to make sure people know the street is open and the shops are in business.

TFD units were able to confine the fire to the involved structure, preventing it from advancing to attached warehouses to the north. A power line went down during firefighting operations; TEP was called to the scene to assist.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. Baker says they have "no real time frame" but intend to thoroughly investigate. They currently do not have a cause of the fire or the amount of damages it created.
