TUCSON - A suspicious person is being investigated by the Pima County Sheriff's Department this afternoon after he allegedly tried to get a student to get in his car.
The victim managed to get away from a man who was trying to get her into his car at about 8:15 a.m. this morning outside the gas station located near the corner of Swan and Sunrise.
Morgan Gregory lives just a few blocks away from Catalina Foothills High School, so she usually walks to class. This morning , she says a man drove up to her, rolled down his window, and tried to get her into his car.
Gregory says the same man has tried to approach her at least three to four times in the past, but by the third or fourth time, she was very scared, as he seemed to be getting bolder in his attempts.
"He said, ‘Do you need a ride some place?'" Gregory told News 4 Tucson. "And this is the same line he's used every single time, and then actually, a year and a half ago, he started to get very agitated, and started yelling at me through his car, saying like, ‘I just wanted to give you a ride, let me just give you a ride, get in the car.' So I said no, and I immediately ran to school."
"You don't think it's going to happen to you, to your child, even in the neighborhood where we live," said Dalena Gregory, Morgan's mother.
The man was described as Caucasian, in his early-to-mid-30's, with dirty strawberry blonde hair. The man has a full beard, about 1/4-inch long, which is also strawberry blonde, sheriff's officials say.
Officials say he is driving an older four-door beige Toyota or Honda.
The vice principal of CFHS confirms to News 4 Tucson that other students have had similar run-ins, with similar descriptions of the suspect.
If you have any information, Pima County Sheriff's officials urge you to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
