Funeral procession Wednesday on State Route 90 for Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever

Motorists on State Route 90 between Benson and Sierra Vista can expect delays Wednesday afternoon while a funeral procession for Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever travels to Buena High School for a memorial service.

Family, friends, dignitaries and members of the law enforcement community will gather alongside SR 90 approximately one mile south of Interstate 10 beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The right lane of eastbound SR 90 approaching the staging area will be closed starting at approximately 3 p.m. and will remain closed until the procession begins at 3:30 p.m.

The procession will travel in the left lane of eastbound SR 90 through Whetstone and Huachuca City into Sierra Vista, where it will take the SR 90 bypass route to Charleston Road and into Buena High School.

Patrol cars will trail the procession for the entire route and motorists will not be permitted to pass. The procession will travel at 50 mph except in areas posted with lower speed limits.

Message boards will be in place alerting eastbound motorists of the procession.
