TUCSON - You may be able to help local authorities identify and arrest a man they say has held up at least five stores at gunpoint, demanding the painkiller oxycodone.
Detectives with the Tucson Police Department's robbery unit say their serial suspect has preyed on businesses in both the west and south sides of Tucson.
Four of his hold-ups occured between February 10 and March 6. The fifth happened just a few days ago, on May 30.
Detectives say in that case, the suspect targeted the Walgreen's at 2411 North Oracle around 9:30pm.
They say that hold-up was similar to the other four. The suspect approached the pharmacy counter, displayed a handgun to the clerk and then demanded and received an undisclosed amount of the pain meds.
Surveillance cameras have captured the serial robber several times.
Authorities say he is an Hispanic man, in his late 40's or early 50's, between 5'5" and 5'9" tall, weighing about 175 pounds. They also say his build is stocky or muscular.
In addition, they say he has brown eyes, brown hair tinged with gray, and a bushy mustache.
In each armed robbery, he has worn a sweathsirt and jeans.
"What's concerning about this is not only what he's taking but the manner in which he's taking it. As soon as you bring a gun or any weapon into an incident of this nature it heightens our awareness. Our concern for you know what his purposes are, what else he might be involved in and what he could potentially could do in the future," said Sgt. Maria Hawke.
If you think you recognize this suspect, you are asked to call 911 or 88-Crime.
