Posted 2:04 PM 11/7/2012 : Runaway croc returned to Gaza zoo after 18 months on the run
(NBC NEWS) - A missing crocodile is back at a Gaza zoo after 18 months on the run.
Police called fishermen to catch the now six-foot-long reptile after people complained he had been eating livestock.
The crocodile went missing when it was less than two feet in length.
He was spotted in sewage pools in the northern part of the Gaza Strip and netted by fishermen Monday.
The elusive croc spent some time re-acquainting himself with his pen yesterday. He lives at the zoo with four other crocodiles.
The zoo's owner decided to name him "Sakher," which means "Rock," as a tribute to his survival.
