TUCSON - Even in these tough economic times, Tucson continues to grow, but what will our city look like 20, even 50 years from now?

The group Imagine Greater Tucson is working to create a "Regional Vision" to make sure it will look and feel the way the community wants. Over the past year-and-a-half IGT gathered input on Tucson's future growth from more than 10,000 people. Some attended presentations, others completed online and paper surveys.

IGT's Interim Executive Director Beth Walkup says the results from the eight-question survey show Tucsonans have three main priorities. They are clean and sustainable water resources, clean air and conservation.

"People came across very strongly that they don't want to grow out that way and take out our beautiful land environment," said Walkup.

As the city grows, 63 percent of survey takers said they want future development concentrated around downtown Tucson, and other city and town centers.

"If everyone kind of sees what this future could be, then we'll make better choices now, for the future," Walkup said.

You can hear more about those survey results Tuesday night and share your opinions. IGT is hosting a public speaker's forum at Sundt Gallery, that is at 1040 North Olive Road at 5 p.m.
