TUCSON - The Pima County Recorder's Office issued an advisory Thursday afternoon warning voters against giving their early ballots to a stranger.

F. Ann Rodriguez says her office has received several calls from from voters who said someone came to their door offering to take their ballot to the post office for them or offering to drop it off at the Recorder's Office.

"Never give your ballot to a total stranger. I don't care if they randomly show up at your front door. You should only be giving to someone that you know and that you trust," she said.

Rodriguez said there is no guarantee these individuals will actually take the ballot to a post office or deliver them to the Recorder's Office.

She said voters can drop off early ballots at any post office or a designated early voting site. Rodriguez said voters can track their ballot through the Recorder's Office which verifies signatures. For more information visit www.recorder.pima.gov

Friday is the last day to request an early ballot. The Recorder's Office mailed out 306,000 ballots and as of Wednesday had received more than 119,000.
