SILVERBELL MOUNTAINS, Ariz. - A cow that got all four legs stuck in a cattle guard in the Silverball Mountain range was freed by Pima County Sheriff's deputies and Avra Valley Fire personnel this afternoon.
A deputy with PCSD called the Avra Valley Fire District today at about 4 p.m. Deputies were able to extricate three of the cow's legs from between the metal grates, according to a news release from the fire district. Avra Valley firefighters responded with a Jaws of Life, and were able to spread open the metal grate bars and free the cow's fourth leg.
The cow receieved some cuts and swelling to its legs, but seems to be doing okay, Avra Valley Fire officials stated. The rancher came by and picked up the animal.
