TUCSON - Officials have released a photo of the woman who went missing this morning after being swept away in a wash on Tucson's west side.
At about 4:30 a.m., rescue crews responded to the area near Sandario Road and Manville Road and located a man who had gotten himself out of the wash to safety, according to officials on the scene. The man told crews he heard another man yelling for help, saying his legs were broken.
Swift water rescue crews crossed the wash and got the injured man to safety. That man told crews that his wife was missing since she was swept away by floodwaters at around 2 a.m. She has been identified as 52-year-old Angela Carrasco.
Avra Valley Fire, Northwest Fire, and Picture Rocks Fire all responded, along with Pima County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team, and a helicopter from Customs and Border Protection. The search for Carrasco continues at this time.
Other crews were also addressing three other cars that got stuck, about a half-mile from the initial rescue location, officials state.
