Posted 3:11 AM 5/10/2012 : Officer involved shooting on the south-east side

UPDATE: Westbound lanes on 22nd between Craycroft and Beverly now open. Eastbound lanes still closed.

TUCSON - Police responding to the scene of an officer involved shooting in the 1100 Block of South Craycroft. The shooting happened at 1:35 this morning.

Sgt Maria Hawke with Tucson Police Department told News Four that the officer in question responded to a suspect firing a weapon.

The officer and suspect came to a stop at 22nd and the officer returned fire. There were no injuries and the police detained the suspect. 

Detectives on the scene are canvassing the area for surveillance tape and witnesses. They are working to determine the circumstances and motive behind the shooting.
