Posted 6:12 PM 5/10/2012 : Northeast sexual assault suspect still on the loose
TUCSON - On April 30th, the Pima County Sherriff's Department responded to a sexual assault call on the Northeast side of town. Three girls, ages 6, 8 and 10 were visiting their grandparents' house when an intruder sexually assaulted one of them.
Residents in the area are still on edge.
Kenji Uehara, who lives a block away from the house where it took place, says he was shocked.
Amy Smith, another neighborhood resident, said she's been having a hard time sleeping, but is relieved the Pima County Sherriff's are working on the case.
"I've been so encouraged because neighbors have come forward and we've given them information and they've responded to everything we sent them."
Last night, the Sherriff's Department released surveilance video and still photographs of a man at a local Circle K convenience store, saying they are looking for an investigative lead in the case. Sheriffs do not identify this man as a suspect or possible suspect.
Arisa Uehara, who is 19 years old, was also a victim of a Peeping Tom in the same area. The two cases have not been connected, but she says she's happy the situation is being taken seriously.
"I was really glad because it was a severe situation. We've never had this before and I was really happy the police officers came and put their efforts on this case."
If you have any information on this case, call 911 or 88-CRIME.
