TUCSON-One family is without heat right now.

Noreen Gruebel said she's been having trouble with her furnace since November.

The space heater isn't doing the trick.

"He's always ‘I'm cold. I'm cold. I'm cold,'" said Nicole Gruebel.

Nicole's two-year-old son is wrapped up tight.

"With blankets and robes and layers of clothes," said Nicole.

Only then, can he sleep.

"It breaks my heart," said Nicole.

Her mom, Noreen has the sniffles.

"We've been freezing. I've got two pairs of socks on, and my feet are still cold," said Noreen.

Noreen has covered the windows and vents.

"The house isn't an insulated house. It's a mobile home and it's real thin," said Noreen.

But she doesn't know what else to do.

"I don't know what's wrong with the furnace. I don't know if I need a new furnace. I just need heat," said Noreen.

She's filed a request with CHRPA, Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona, a non-profit that helps low-income people with home repairs.

Noreen said they stopped by to check the furnace on New Year's Eve.

"And they said they have to get a specialist to come out here. Somebody that knows more about furnaces and they never have," said Noreen.

CHRPA mainly works with volunteers and off donations.

"We can only do so much work with our resources. We have a limited amount of funding..a limited amount of expert technicians," said Scott Coverdale, CHRPA Executive Director.

Coverdale said they get over a hundred requests a week not only for furnace repairs but pipes, roofs and coolers, but with the staff they have, they can only get about 20 to 30 jobs done.

"These are all furnace repair requests," said Coverdale.

He needs more volunteers to step forward to help families like the Gruebels.
