TUCSON-A man who barricaded himself in an apartment for several hours Saturday morning surrendered without further incident around 10:45 a.m.

According to Sgt. Maria Hawke, TPD responded to a shots fired in the 300 block of West Delano Street.

A man called 9-1-1 around 4:15 Saturday morning saying he had been shot.

According to the victim, he was driving down West Delano Street when he heard a loud bang and the back window of the truck shattered.

The man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Police then canvassed the area, speaking to witnesses who described the shooter.

Police located an armed person matching the suspect's description. The alleged suspect ran into a nearby apartment.

There were at least two other people inside the apartment with the suspect.

Police said the suspect was armed.

It was a scary sight for neighbors as police blocked the street for several hours and the SWAT team swarmed the area.

The shot startled neighbors.

"It was loud enough," said Rowdy Benson, who said he lives down the street. "I thought it was poppers you know what those kids throw."

But once he found out it was a gunshot, " I was like geez, it could be me next time," he said.

Jessica Shultz also lives in the neighborhood.

"We heard some sirens going down Oracle," said Shultz. "My kids are usually outside playing, but I've been keeping them in the house today. Especially when I saw this blocked off and then I was like okay--something is really going on."

Police believed the suspect was still armed, and police were keeping everyone at a safe distance.

Cars stood idle near the barricades waiting for their loved ones to meet them.

Rachel Black rushed to the scene worried about her six-year-old son.

"My son's best friend lives here, and so he spent the night over there last night and so I was like okay what's going on when I came into this area," said Black. "I called my friend up and was like is my son okay?"

She was happy to know Christian was at a safe distance from where the suspect had barricaded himself.

"I'm glad I got my kid and we're going to get away from here as far as we can," said Black.
