A Tucson Police sergeant who will retire next week shot and killed a suspect early Friday morning. According to Tucson Police, Sergeant Anthony Kadous felt his life was threatened when an accused serial armed robber pointed a gun at him while trying to flee from the sargeant. The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Willie Davis Jr.
The incident unraveled near the intersection of Winstel Boulevard and Blacklidge drive shortly after 5 a.m.
Sergeant Maria Hawke, a spokeswoman for TPD said police recieved a report of an armed robbery at the 7-11 in the 3600 block of east Grant Road. Two minutes later, Sgt. Kadous spotted the suspect's vehicle and followed Davis into an alley that became a dead end.
A press release says Davis got out of his vehicle and started to run, a 30 to 50 foot chase ensued and that's when police say Davis pointed a weapon at Kadous; fearing for his life Kadous fired his service weapon.
It's believed Davis was the suspect in a string of robberies that took police early Thursday morning.
