TUCSON - A motorcyclist is in the hospital with serious injuries after a driver left the scene of an accident.
Steve Nunn was driving to work around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. A car making a left turn from Shannon Road to Cactus Canyon Pass pulled in front of the motorcycle, according to the driver's wife, Jennifer Nunn.
Her husband told somebody passing by the accident to call her.
"I got dressed really fast, drove probably 65 miles down my street, and got to the scene within 5 minutes," Jennifer Nunn said. "He's wide awake. He's conscious, but I could tell he's pretty beat up."
Steve Nunn had a broken pelvis. He also had hours of surgery on his wrist and ankle. The family was waiting to hear if he had spine damage.
"My husband was really disappointed that the person that drove in front of him did not stop," Jennifer Nunn said.
The family is active in Scouting and loves the outdoors. Now Nunn will be hospitalized at the University of Arizona Medical Center a few more days. He still has a long recovery and at least 10 weeks of bed rest.
"He's our project," his wife said, "and we have to take care of him. He can't even lift a cup to get a glass of water."
Jennifer Nunn thinks the driver panicked.
"I believe that's natural for humans," she said, "but you know what? Come forward."
Nunn is pretty sure it was a silver 4-door car, maybe similar to a Toyota Camry. She said it should have obvious damage to the passenger side.
She is hoping a neighbor or auto repair shop has seen something suspicious.
She wants somebody to call 911 or make an anonymous tip to 88-CRIME.
