PICTURE ROCKS - Recent Monsoon storms that have recently rolled through Pima County have caused quite the challenge for the Pima County Department of Transportation, in terms of road clean-up and repairs.

Some areas in Pima County saw up to two inches of rain in the last couple days, which has caused road closures, hazardous driving conditions and a big mess to clean up.

The county usually spends about $150,000 a year on these road clean-ups and repairs, but with so much rain, it's forced them to exceed their allotted amount for repairs.

According to the department, that could mean a delay in other projects they still have to get done.

"This year, this monsoon season a lot more active than let's say a year or so ago, and we're trying to keep up with it but it's kind of even taking us a little longer than usual to do the cleanups," said Priscilla Cornelio, Director of the Pima County Department of Transportation.

Right now, Pima County officials are looking to manage the new damages and hoping that the monsoon storms will start to calm down.
