Posted 9:42 PM 8/10/2012 : Marijuana dispensary owners prepare to open
TUCSON - As Arizona's medical marijuana program begins to take shape, dispensary owners are preparing facilities to open up shop.
Ken Sobel says he plans to set up his dispensary at the same location where the Green Halo Caregiver Collective was raided by Tucson Police in July for it's allegedly illegal pot shop operations.
Pending operating certification from the state, Sobel says he is proud to do it by the book.
"We have to wait until we can get operation approval with any of our facility before we can actually open the dispensary to our patients," Sobel said. "So it's uncertain on how much time that might take."
Although he hopes his shop can be the first to open in the Tucson area, he says he just wants the medical services to be available for those who need it.
"In the meantime most of us [dispensary owners] are doing build outs and getting our facilities ready, so that when that time comes it can be inspected, approved and opened," Sobel said.
