TUCSON - Plenty of people are still having plastic surgery in this uncertain economy, buy they are taking a closer look at how much bang they're getting for their buck.
No one can afford to spend money on cosmetic procedures that do not work, or are only a quick fix.
That means finding the right procedure that will not only give you real results, but will last several years.
News 4 Tucson plastic surgery contributor Dr. Gwen Maxwell joined us on News 4 at 4 for this week's "Make Me Over" segment to discuss just this topic.
Here's are the surgeries that Dr. Maxwell says are the most cost-effective available today:
1. Lower Facelift/Necklift
a. Some of the first signs of aging appear on the neck. Unfortunately, nothing will really tighten the sagging skin of the neck and jowls except removing it. "Liquid lifts", "Quick Lifts", and/or creams are expensive and do not work or only work for a short period of time. The results of the necklift or lower facelift will last years and actually remove the offending skin. In Tucson, the total cost ranges from $3600 - $5100.
2. Abdominoplasty
a. The Abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" is a procedure that will dramatically improve your body's overall appearance. Many scientific studies have proven that a woman's waist-to-hip ratio is a major factor in the perceived attractiveness of a female. The abdominoplasty removes the unwanted skin, fat, and tissue and tightens the abdominal muscles. Liposuction alone will not remove the excess skin and results will not last if weight is regained. In fact, the fat may come back in other areas. In Tucson, the total cost ranges from $6,700 - $8,700.
3. Breast Augmentation
a. Breast Augmentation provides immediate and noticeable results which last approximately 10 years. In Tucson, the total cost ranges from $3,750 to $5000.
