Posted 4:19 PM 2/3/2012 : Living Younger Longer: 1 in 3 women die of heart disease

TUCSON - While one in 31 American women dies from breast cancer each year, one in three die of cardiovascular disease.

Eight million women in the US currently have heart disease, which is often called the silent killer. Less than a third of women in a recent survey reported any early warning signs, such as chest pain or discomfort before a heart attack-- compared with most men.

Also, slightly more than half of those women say they would call 9-1-1 if they were experiencing those symptoms.

Today on Living Younger Longer, Dr. Lori Mackstaller from the Sarver Heart Center stopped by to discuss heart disease in women.
