TUCSON - In this week's Kitchen Cops: inspectors received a warm reception at a north side fast food establishment, they were also caught for not paying attention to expiration times, and once again, inspectors found an employee you could describe as "handy."
Carl's Jr. on East Wetmore received two critical violations. Flour used to bread raw chicken was tested at 85 degrees. The inspector was told the breading mixture was used for as long as a week, but the mixture is supposed to be discarded every four hours. Sliced cheese was also found to be left out for serving for up to 48 hours. Food held in refrigeration unit was way above required minimum 41 degrees: milk at 50 degrees, cheesecake at 58 degrees. All violations were corrected during inspection, earning Carl's Jr., on East Wetmore a "Good" rating.
Laverna's Coffee Shop & Café received two critical violations. An employee was observed eating and drinking in the kitchen and then handled food and clean dishware without washing their hands. Food cooled with ice was tested way above the minimum 41 degrees: raw shell eggs at 60 degrees and sliced ham at 58 degrees. All violations were corrected with the inspector on site, giving Laverna's Coffee Shop and Café a "Good" rating.
