Posted 9:30 PM 12/27/2012 : Kitchen Cops: Colonel's troops fail mission of keeping kitchen clean

TUCSON - The Pima County Health Inspectors did not get much of a break this holiday; in this week's installment of Kitchen Cops, inspectors visited a restaurant symbolized by a Colonel with troops who failed in their mission to keep the kitchen clean.

KFC, at 190 S. Grant Rd., received two critical and two non-critical violations. The inspector reported that a walk-in cooler smelled of rotted meat and had grime and slime buildup on shelving, racks and on the floor. Juice drippings from a speed rack extended out the door. Chicken product and debris were found throughout the cooler. All violations were corrected during the inspection, giving KFC a "Good" rating.

Rocco's Little Chicago, at 2707 E. Broadway, received one critical and two non-critical violations. Utensils stored as clean were found covered with dried food debris. The floor in the dishwashing and dry storage areas were covered with trash, dirt and food debris. Vents above a deep fryer had dust and grease on them with grease dripping on to trays. All violations were corrected with the inspector on site giving Rocco's Little Chicago a "Good" rating.

Last week we told you about Davidson Elementary School, at 3950 E. Paradise Falls Dr, receiving a "Needs Improvement" rating. The Pima County Health Department has confirmed that the school passed re-inspection.

Restaurants awarded excellent ratings include, Yukis Sushi at 2962 N. Campbell Ave., Mountain Oyster Club at 6400 E. El Dorado Circle and Asian Bistro at 3122 N. Campbell.
