Posted 10:00 PM 4/12/2012 : Kitchen Cops: Upscale steak restaurant redeemed by re-inspection

TUCSON - On this week's "Kitchen Cops," News 4 Tucson's Brandon Gunnoe reports on health inspectors "bugging out" over cans of insecticide at a popular Sonoran hot dog joint, and an upscale steakhouse enjoys a redeeming re-inspection.

First up, the Circle K at 3700 W. Orange Grove received two critical violations. Chili sauce in the chili/nacho cheese machine was not being stored at a safe temperature. Also, milk, eggs, bacon and yogurt were not being stored at a safe temperature, Pima County Health Department records show. Circle K on West Orange Grove received a "Needs Improvement" rating. Both violations were corrected quickly, so Circle K has already passed its re-inspection.

BK Carne Asada and Hot Dogs on 1st Ave. received two critical violations. Two cans of Raid insect spray were found, and potentially hazardous foods were found at an unsafe temperature. BK Carne Asada and Hot Dogs on 1st Ave. received a "Good" rating.

Last week, Brandon told you about McMahon's Prime Steakhouse on Swan Road receiving a "Provisional" rating. The restaurant not only passed its re-inspection, but the inspector said great strides were made. The hiring of a new general manager and executive chef were instrumental in the successful re-inspection.

Dragon View Asian Cuisine on Bonita Avenue, Jason's Deli on Broadway and Hummingbird Café on Broadway all received an "Excellent" rating.
