TUCSON - The space shuttle Endeavor stirred up a lot of excitement at the U of A mall as it flew over Tucson. People of all ages gathered to see the shuttle pass through Tucson in its way to California.
The shuttle passed through here in honor of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly who was the last to ride in the shuttle last year as commander of its final mission.
As Kelly watched the shuttle pass by he shouted: "That's my shuttle!" He tells us Giffords was by his side and was happy to see this moment. Kelly was proud that people on the U of A campus could see this event since the University has such strong ties to Tucson.
"The last time I saw space shuttle Endeavor is when I got out of it about a little over a year ago, and just to see it in the air again for the very last time, is good to see. It's great to see those space shuttles flying," said Mark Kelly. "But like anything you have to be really up close to it to see what kind of shape it's in."
