TUCSON - A lot more sunshine compared to yesterday should get the Monsoon cooking.

Ample moisture over the state combined with morning sun leads to a chance of scattered storms today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Timeframe for storms should be from noon this afternoon through midnight, with a few possibly turning severe. Today's Monsoon Prediction Index sits at 5 out of 10 for the moderate risk of heavy rain & gusty winds over 40 MPH.

A mid-level trough sandwiched between areas of high pressure remains the set up for scattered storms tomorrow and Friday. High pressure tracks toward the northern part of Arizona by the weekend, drawing in slighty drier air and bringing only isolated storms Saturday through early next week.

Daytime highs the next 7 days will be in the mid to upper 90's for Tucson with overnight lows dropping to the mid 70's.
