Posted 8:52 AM 6/20/2012 : More heat today, but Monsoon storms are coming back

TUCSON - The heat is on...and so will the Monsoon in a few days.

High pressure over Baja California provides triple digit heat through Sunday, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Expect a high temp of 105 degrees this afternoon, with the peak of the heat coming Friday. These temps are a few degrees above average as we ring in the first official day of Summer.

That area of high pressure slides east of the state heading into the weekend, drawing in Monsoon moisture. Isolated mountain storms should develop Friday and Saturday, with isolated valley storms possible Sunday and early next week. The best chance for storms should be east of an Oracle-Tucson-Nogales line starting Sunday.

As the Monsoon cranks up, temperatures cool off. Monday and Tuesday will see high temps reaching the upper 90's, which is below average for late June.
