Posted 10:02 AM 3/13/2013 : History-making heat to wrap the week
TUCSON - Temperatures make a run at the record books the next few days.
High pressure over Nevada drives daytime highs 15-20 degrees above average, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Expect upper 80's to low 90's this afternoon through Saturday under sunny skies. Today's forecast high of 88 would tie the record set back in 1989. The first 90 degree day of 2013 is on tap tomorrow, which would also shatter the record high of 87 degrees.
A cold front sweeping across Idaho and Utah early next week sends high pressure southward. This serves to take some of the edge off the warmth, but high temps starting Sunday should still remain in the low to mid 80's.
