TUCSON - Little storm activity, lots of heat today.
High pressure over Colorado draws in dry air to southern Arizona, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. This feature dominates the weather through Thursday, as partly cloudy skies and highs at or near triple digits is expected. Gusty winds up to 20 MPH this morning should subside this afternoon around 10-15 MPH out of the east-southeast.
There is a slight chance of an isolated storm or two west of a Gila Bend-Arivaca line this afternoon, which puts the Monsoon Prediction Index at 2 out of 10 for the low risk of severe weather.
Storm chances increase late week, as Tropical Storm Ileana off the Mexico coast sends Monsoon moisture surging up the Gulf of California. Isolated storms return to the forecast Friday through early next week. Highs by then should drop into the mid 90's for Tucson.
