Posted 8:57 AM 6/5/2012 : Perfect weather for today's "Transit of Venus"
TUCSON - Lots of sunshine for a rare sight in the southern Arizona skies today.
A ridge of high pressure over the central part of the US continues to drive the weather in southern Arizona, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. The net result is sunny skies and daytime highs in the upper 90's for Tucson today and tomorrow. Winds the next several days should stay in the 10-15 MPH range.
Sunny skies mean perfect viewing for today's "Transit of Venus", which starts at 3:09 PM Tucson time. Click here for more information on local viewing events and where to get solar viewers.
Triple digit temps make a return to the Old Pueblo later this week, as a new area of high pressure develops south of the International Border. Highs Thursday through the upcoming weekend top out in the 100-102 range. Hottest day of the week still appears to be Friday.
