Posted 8:02 AM 11/8/2012 : Winds today, rain tonight
TUCSON - The "Big Change" has arrived.
A powerful Pacific cold front crashes into Arizona the next 48 hours, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Gusty west-southwest winds around 10-20 MPH develop today under mostly cloudy skies. Blowing dust and areas of reduced visibility may be encountered this afternoon along I-10 north of Marana and east of Benson. High temps peak in the mid 80's for Tucson today.
Winds subside a bit tonight, but the chance for isolated showers increases. Isolated showers should continue through Friday morning, then re-develop Friday night into the first half of Saturday. Rain changes over to snow by late Friday above 7,000 feet.
Temperatures this weekend will drop dramatically. High temps Saturday and Sunday struggle to reach the 60 degree mark, with overnight lows likely dropping to freezing in Cochise & Santa Cruz Counties.
The cold front exits the state late Sunday, with a brief period of dry weather early next week. Another storm system appears in the cards the middle of next week, bringing isolated showers by Wednesday.
