TUCSON - Monsoon 2012's brief break is over.
Isolated storms return to the forecast this afternoon, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. A southeasterly flow aloft returns Monsoon moisture to southern Arizona. The best chance for storms today will be east of Tucson, although a stray storm or two may move into the metro.
Our exclusive Monsoon Prediction Index sits at 3 out of 10 today, meaning a low chance of severe weather.
A better chance of storms is in the forecast Friday and Saturday, as Monsoon moisture interacts with a low pressure trough. Expect scattered thunderstorms area-wide, with the best chance of thunder being Saturday. Flash flooding looks to be the biggest threat with these storms.
Another round of scattered thunderstorms returns to southern Arizona next Tuesday, with high temps over the next 7 days at or below the triple digit mark.
