TUCSON - The torrid triple digit pace continues, in advance of Monsoon thunderstorms.

High pressure centered over the northern Baja today triggers Tucson's 28th day of triple digit temps this year, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Highs this afternoon range from 100 in Tombstone & Willcox to 106 in Tucson. Little relief in temperatures is anticipated, with highs hitting at least 100 degrees through Sunday.

Not only is Tucson well above average on triple digit days for the year, we're on pace to shatter the all-time record for most triple digit days in a year (99 days in 1994).

Some relief is in store as high pressure slides east of the state. A southeast flow aloft picks up Monsoon moisture beginning Friday, with isolated mountain storms possible. Enough moisture will be in place for isolated valley storms Sunday, lasting through the first half of next week.
