Posted 9:04 AM 7/23/2012 : Stormy start to the work week
TUCSON - Lather, rinse, repeat as another active Monsoon day is on tap.
A stalled out low pressure trough interacts and Monsoon moisture brings scattered thunderstorms today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Storms should fire up around noon and move northwest, before tapering off after 11 PM. Like the last few days, some storms could be severe with damaging winds, blowing dust and locally heavy rainfall.
Today's Monsoon Prediction Index is at a 6, meaning a moderate risk for severe weather.
Tuesday features more scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. Drier air works into the state by mid-week, decreasing the thunder threat some. Expect isolated storms Wednesday through the weekend with highs at or near 100 degrees.
Over the next 72 hours, rainfall amounts should be in the 0.25-0.75" range with some spots seeing 1"+.
