Posted 8:06 AM 8/10/2012 : Threatening record temps through the weekend
TUCSON - Little relief from the August heat.
High pressure anchored over the Arizona/New Mexico border bakes the desert southwest, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. With mostly sunny skies, highs today through Sunday will be in the 107-109 range for Metro Tucson. A possible record-tying high of 108 degrees is in the forecast for Tucson Saturday.
There is a slight chance of a few isolated storms near the International Border this afternoon. Our exclusive Monsoon Prediction Index sits at 1 out of 10 today, indicating a low risk for severe weather.
High pressure shifts toward El Paso early next week, returning Monsoon moisture and a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures should start easing off as well, but remain in the triple digits through the middle of next week.
