TUCSON - The bell rang out at the downtown fire station Tuesday at 10:10 a.m.
That's the moment two years ago when the first shot was fired.
Mayor Jonathan Rothschild rang the bell 19 times in honor of the victims and survivors.
"We must never forget the good people who lost their lives or those whose lives were forever changed by the events of that day."
Posted 2:25 PM 1/8/2013 : Somber ceremony at UAMC for Jan. 8 anniversary
Dozens of people gathered Tuesday morning for the two year anniversary of the Tragedy in Tucson. Six people were killed and 13 were wounded including then Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
Jim Tucker was shot twice that day, "probably a blink of an eye between the first shot and the second shot struck me in the chest and I was falling backwards and another shot in the lower leg," he recalled.
He said the last two years have been a physical, emotional and mental journey.
Bill Badger also survived the attack at the Safeway, "when another event would happen it was just like the first event happening all over again. So when the Aurora event took place, that scared the daylights out of me because I have a daughter in Aurora."
A handful of survivors were on hand for the somber ceremony that included a bell ringing at 10:10 a.m., the time the first shots rang out.
Dr. Katherine Hiller was working in the emergency room at the University of Arizona Medical Center two years ago, "it was just a very routine morning. Fairly slow actually. Saturdays in January can sometimes be that way and it was totally unexpected."
