Posted 11:33 AM 6/28/2013 : Inspectors make 'egg-xample' of Tucson restaurants
TUCSON - Sizzling temperatures are on the way to Tucson this weekend but Pima County Health Inspector's have already turned up the heat on local restaurants.
Kings Restaurant, at 10 W. Grant, received five critical violations. Raw shelled eggs were discovered to have been left out on a counter for two days, the eggs temped at 84 degrees. Food that requires refrigeration must be stored at 41 degrees or less. The inspector observed an employee scrub a cutting board with just water and then put it away as clean. Kitchen items were encrusted with food debris. Several food items were found in a reach-in cooler not date marked.
With five critical violations, Kings Restaurant, was given a "Provisional" rating.
In a statement Kings Restaurant management said, "We apologize to all customers from king's restaurant because we got a provisional rating from the health department. (This occurred) during the remodeling of our restaurant and preparation of new dishes for our new menu and now we are correcting this problem."
Randolph El Con Grill, at 600 Randolph Way, received three critical violations. Ants were found in the dry storage area of the restaurant. Food items tested above the required maximum 41-degrees with raw eggs temped at 45 degrees, french toast dip at 46-degrees and cooked chicken at 44-degrees.
With critical violations not corrected during the inspection, Randolph El Con Grill, received a "Needs Improvement" rating.
Restaurants awarded "Excellent" ratings include, Carrabba's Italian Grill, at
7635 N. Oracle, Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, at 6360 N. Campbell and Pinnacle Peak, at 6541 E. Tanque Verde.
