TUCSON- Spending time in a hospital can be difficult for patients and their families, especially children. Sometimes all they need is something to take their minds of of why they are there.
That is where John Coppin, also known as Dr. Hocus, and his wife Nurse Pocus, can help. For the past four years they have been visiting the Tucson Medical Center to spread a little cheer in the Children's Center.
Clowns Dr. Hocus and Nurse Pocus put on a full show with a contagious smile. "The parents can bring them in and watch the show, enjoy a little magic, a little singing and just basically laugh!" said Coppin.
It's not just a show for the sick. Family members spend almost as much time in the hospital as the patient. It can get a bit mundane.
Shawn Evans has a new daughter. His two year old son Uriah was all smiles during the clown show.
"He was cooped up in the room and this was a great opportunity to get out," said Evans.
Coppin said he is looking for volunteers. To volunteer at TMC visit www.tmcaz.com.
