TUCSON - Christmas came early for some deserving Tucson kids.

Youth On Their Own held their annual holiday party for the homeless students they serve.

There was food, fun and every student went home with a gift donated by Tucsonans.

More than 700 kids are involved with the program that helps students stay in school .

With a 93 percent graduation rate, many go on to college.
Raffle prizes included bikes, iPads and televisions.

News 4 Tucson's Rebecca Taylor asked student Depant White what he won.

"I got a 32 inch LCD TV," he said smiling, while holding his new boxed television.

Another student Miranda Contreras describes how YOTO has helped her. "It's such a good program, they help us who are less fortunate graduate high school. And they provide everything we need for that."

Youth On Their Own board member Kathy Kang says students go on to lead promising lives, contributing to Tucson's community.

"Rather than them falling into a path of juvenile detention, or worse jail, they're given this opportunity to become producing members of society," said Kang.

YOTO accepts donations year-round. They're in need of coats, blankets, toiletries and food.
