TUCSON - The Molino Basin Trail is where the grasslands meet the desert. It's part of the Arizona Trail, which stretches from the International Border to Utah. Very few have accomplished the entire 800 mile trek.

At an elevation of 4-thousand feet, the Molino Basin trail mixes barrel cacti & prickly pears with grasses and wildflowers of many colors. Along the way, hikers will find a few creeks which have some water. Surprisingly, you can find tadpoles wading through the creeks.

Tadpoles aren't the only thing living in the streams. Snakes also like to hang out in the stream beds, so keep an eye out for them.

Hikers won't be the only ones taking a stroll. Deer also frequent the area, traveling off in the distance from the trail.

Also in the distance, steep mountain peaks that make up Molino Basin. They seem intimidating. The hike however is not.

From the trailhead at Molino Campground to the end at Solider Trail, it's over 2 miles one way, making for a 3 hour round trip hike.
